A1 EMS INC. — Expert Mechanical Services is hiring experienced HVAC installers and installation mechanics for commercial and residential projects throughout Long Island and New York City.

We are looking for dependable mechanics who take pride in their work, understand proper installation practices, and can complete assigned work without constant supervision. You should be comfortable working with a team, coordinating with the office, and representing the company professionally at customer locations.

A minimum of five years of hands-on HVAC installation experience is required. This is not an entry-level or helper position.

Responsibilities

• Install and replace rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, ductless systems, furnaces, and air handlers, including removal of existing equipment and coordination of new equipment placement.
• Install and connect sheet-metal ductwork, transitions, dampers, supports, insulation, and related air-distribution components.
• Install refrigerant piping, braze with nitrogen flow, pressure-test for leaks, evacuate systems using a micron gauge, and charge equipment according to manufacturer requirements.
• Install condensate drains, traps, drain pans, pumps, and overflow protection. Install thermostats and low-voltage controls, and coordinate regulated electrical and gas work with appropriately licensed trades.
• Read plans, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions. Complete startup checks, verify system operation, document readings, maintain clean jobsites, and direct helpers when assigned.

Required Qualifications

• At least five years of hands-on HVAC installation experience. Trade school is valuable but does not replace the required field experience.
• Ability to independently complete installation tasks, use trade tools properly, identify installation problems, and follow manufacturer requirements.
• EPA Section 608 Type II or Universal certification.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet agreed reporting arrangements and travel between assigned jobs. Work is performed throughout both Long Island and New York City.
• Reliable attendance, professional communication, accurate job documentation, safe work practices, and authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Experience

Commercial rooftop replacements, installation crew leadership, boiler and hydronic installations, advanced sheet-metal work, and equipment startup experience are valuable.

EPA Universal certification, OSHA 30, NYC SST credentials, A2L refrigerant training, and manufacturer training are a plus. Required site-specific credentials must be obtained before applicable assignments.

Compensation and Schedule

Base pay: $35–$50 per hour. Starting pay will reflect your relevant experience, installation skills, certifications, and ability to independently complete or lead installations.

Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable law. Normal working hours, reporting arrangements, travel requirements, and any scheduled overtime or weekend work will be reviewed during the hiring process.

Work Environment

This is an in-person field position involving rooftops, ladders, mechanical rooms, and handling tools and equipment. Applicants must be able to perform the essential duties safely, with or without reasonable accommodation , using appropriate lifting equipment or assistance.
